Shell: Well manufacturing - innovative technology to deliver safer, smarter

Wells represent the biggest single expenditure in the development of unconventional oil or gas resources. Shell is looking at ways to standardize well design and automate drilling. Like Henry Ford, Shell believes that cost savings and efficiency improvements can be obtained through mass production.

In a joint venture with CNPC, the Sirius Well Manufacturing Services, Shell is developing and deploying a well manufacturing concept with highly automated rigs that are ideally suited projects, reducing drilling's environmental footprint and making logistics more efficient.
